North Carolina Window on Student Education (NC WISE) integrates all aspects of public school life from the classroom to the central office. Web-based and centrally maintained for capturing, accessing and reporting a wide spectrum of student information.   State funding in North Carolina is allocated based on the data housed in the NC WISE programs.

NC WISE is composed of three basic components:

• Electronic Student Information System (eSIS) allows individual schools to manage student information.

• Electronic Data Interchange provides the capability to electronically transmit all student instructional records and demographic information between school districts, between schools within a district and to universities and colleges in North Carolina.

• Uniform Education Reporting System (UERS) transfers information from the local school district to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI).

Student information housed in the eSIS program includes:

• Demographic information
• Schedules and current marks
• Historical attendance, grades and test scores
• Exceptional Children's Information
• Career Pathways and Course of Study

Teacher information includes:

• Teacher licensure and certification information
• Teacher Schedules
• Class size
• Daily teacher load information

During the course of the year UERS information is transmitted to the NCDPI.  This includes:

• Principal's Monthly Report
• Membership by Grade, Race and Sex Report
• Promotion, Graduation and Retention Report
• VocSchool Activity Report

Essentially, NC WISE integrates all aspects of public school life.
